Wanda After Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy SurgeryWanda

Procedure: Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy
Weight Loss: 100 lbs

I’m Wanda and I have lost 100 lbs in just 1 year with Dr. Davidson at Bariatric Surgery Center of Dallas!!!

At the age of 48, after having been overweight my whole adult life and waking up on December 3, 2010, not able to walk without a cane due to excruciating pain in my knee, I decided right then that I was going to have vertical sleeve gastrectomy.

We are very active and enjoy riding our motorcycle and going camping and my weight was starting to affect my daily life. It was harder and harder to climb stairs, hard to get on the bike, hard doing everyday normal life stuff and my eating habits were only worsening as being a biker, we did lunch and dinner rides a lot. I knew I had to do this because soon, more than just my knee was going to be affected, it was going to lead to far worse health issues for me. Dr. Davidson and his staff are such a blessing in my life! Dr. D literally gave my life back to me!!! I went from 239 lbs and wearing size 20 jeans and 2x to 3x shirts to 139 lbs and wearing size 5 and 6 jeans and small/small petite shirts!!! Me!!! Small petite!!!! That’s just on the outside!!!

The difference it has made in my life is tremendous! I have developed eating habits that are not just healthy but also enjoyable. It’s like a new me stepped outside of my former self!!! My marriage that was already awesome, has only gotten better! No more knee pain! NONE! No more acid reflux! I have boundless energy and now I LOVE going shopping!!! No more tears! Riding on the motorcycle is so enjoyable now! Getting on and off? No problem!!!

Life is SO awesome and I am loving every minute of it!!! My only regret? I wish I had done it sooner!!!

Lynn After Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass SurgeryLynn

Procedure: Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass
Weight Loss: 260 pounds

I went through life as a fat child and a fat teenager, plus I was always the tallest one in my classes, so I was the most visible. I remember experiencing the humiliation of being chosen last for sports or other team activities and the hurt of being made fun of and bullied. I compensated by making food my best friend, comfort, medicine, reward, whatever it could be. I was the poster child for emotional eating. These bad habits increased as I got older. I dieted constantly and never could maintain any weight loss even it if was substantial – losing literally thousands of pounds over my lifetime. I maintained a weight of over 300 pounds for over 30 years.

In addition to adult onset diabetes, chronic bronchitis, sleep apnea, high blood pressure and metabolic syndrome and a BMI of 62, by the time I reached my early fifties, osteoarthritis and morbid obesity had claimed both my knees and fused them at a 90 degree angle. Being in constant pain and unable to walk without a rolling walker, being afraid with every step that I would fall, fueled my emotional eating even further. I literally gave up and my weight ballooned up to well over 430 pounds.

I was desperate and my family was also – for me. They feared I was not long for this world. I was in denial about that and just took more and more medication. However, weight loss surgery had become a hot topic in the health news, so I went to a seminar that Dr. Davidson gave at Presbyterian. It seemed like a dream that something may actually be able to help me. With the assistance of my family, I had the gastric bypass surgery in November 2009 and by my third anniversary this last year, I had lost over 260 pounds and have a BMI of 24.7. Double knee replacement surgery in December 2011 completed the transformation. All my medical conditions and medications are gone except for the required vitamins and minerals. There are rules – this is just a tool, after all – and I follow them. But all the hard work was worth it, and without the tremendous support and expertise of Dr. Davidson and his team at BSC Dallas, it would not have been possible.

I thank God for bringing me to Dr. Davidson and the BSC Dallas team. This is not just a new lease on life, but a new life altogether! I am now looking at a bright future when I had a very uncertain future before. New body, new clothes, new lifestyle and new opportunities – all are now mine to enjoy!

I have been overweight 90% of my adult life. In early 2010 I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I had been on medication for high blood pressure as well. I was at an all-time high of 442 pounds. Every joint in my body hurt especially my back. I could not walk from my front door to my car without getting winded and breaking a sweat and was tired all of the time. Additionally, I had sleep apnea. I was also seeing a wound care specialist in Denton treating an open sore on my leg caused from Deep Vein Thrombosis in my left leg. My life was out of control and I was miserable.

While I was at treatment at the wound care facility, the treating physician asked me if I had ever considered Bariatric Surgery. I told him it has been on my mind for some time. He gave me Dr. Davidson’s number and suggested I give his office a call. This was the beginning of the new me. The staff was very kind and helpful. I satisfied the requirements of my insurance company and my surgery was scheduled. I had the gastric sleeve. This is the best thing I have EVER done.

I am an entirely different person today, mind, body and spirit. I have gone from a size 60 pants and a 6XL shirt to a size 36 jeans and a Large shirt. I have lost over 215 pounds in 18 months. I now go to the gym every single day and walk 3 ½ miles per day, eat right and love the new me. If I had this to do over again, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Thanks for giving me my life back Dr. Davidson!

We have had the absolute best “life changing” experience with the Dr. Davidson!!! We both came in with some health problems, that related to the weight that we needed to loose. The ladies in the office have been so helpful, any questions we had, they knew exactly what to do!!! I tell everybody that asks me about my surgery to go see Dr. Davidson and one of my friends actually had the surgery in December!!

My favorite part is that Dr. Davidson is welcoming and straight to the point. He made us feel like we were part of his family (when I say family I am talking about everybody in his office) I loved having a man with such great faith do our surgery’s.

We can’t thank you enough!! We are both still loosing weight and will send more pictures as we go!

Annette Before and After Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass SurgeryAnnette

Procedure: Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass
Weight Loss: 104 pounds

To consider having surgery was a battle for me but when my health declined and increase chances of heart disease and diabetes at my door step made me change my mind. I have always been an active person due to work for UPS and exercising outside of work. I could not understand why I couldn’t lose the weight. I went to one of the seminars that was offered and walked out feeling confident that I was making the right decision.

After the surgery it was a challenge on its own but following instruction and the support of Dr. Davidson and his staff I am new person. I currently have lost over 100 pounds in just over a year. It is amazing to be able to walk without getting out of breath. Another thing that I noticed is I am able to cross my legs like a lady and feel comfortable doing it. Just to look in the mirror and smile because I am happy with the person that I am looking at is the most rewarding thing to me, I am still getting use to this new person. I have a whole new perspective of life and I thank God that Dr. Davidson and his staff was there for me.

Shelby Before and After Lap Band SurgeryShelby

Procedure: Lap Band
Weight Loss: 100 pounds

I was always a big girl; taller than my classmates until high school and always on the chubby side. My real weight issues began at age 22 when I started on a pattern of emotional eating. My blood pressure soared and I have been on dozens of different blood pressure medications. I have also been on every diet known to man kind. I would lose 30 lbs and regain 40. It was a vicious cycle. After giving birth to twins at the age of 37, with mounting blood pressure and weight issues, I started looking into permanent solutions. I chose the lapband procedure mainly because it is adjustable for life, the down time was minimal, and the procedure was less invasive. I chose Dr. Davidson due to his wonderful reputation. After the seminar and meeting his staff, I knew he was the doctor for me. At my first appointment, I weighed 263 lbs and had a BMI of 40. I had my surgery on September 7, 2007. Today, I weigh 163 and have a BMI of 25. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Davidson and his staff. Their support has been awesome and has helped me to be successful. I would recommend the lapband and Dr. Davidson to anyone interested in making a real change in their life.

Shawanna Before and After Lap Band SurgeryShawanna

Procedure: Lap Band
Weight Loss: 74 pounds

For as long as I can remember, I have always been overweight. Even in High School I was always the “chunky friend”, never feeling pretty enough or good enough. I have been on every diet imaginable, I’ve tried an 850-calorie-per-day restricted diet, a soup diet, a grapefruit diet, and a high-protein diet. I went through Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig. I even exercised excessively. It didn’t matter what I did. I would just lose some weight and then gain it all back plus more. After researching and looking into the lap band, in Sept. of 2007, I decided that I was going to do this for myself.

Now, I have more energy to do the things I love – like riding bikes and playing with my son. I even enjoy doing housework now because I don’t get worn out.

Today, 13 months post-op, I have gone from size 18/20 to a size 9/10. I look great. Feel great. I even have the energy to exercise. I have my life back and I would definitely recommend this surgery to those of you that are really ready mentally and physically for a dramatic change in your life.

Thank you so much Dr. Davidson and all your staff. Without all of you, I couldn’t have done this!

Melissa Before and After Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy SurgeryMelissa

Procedure: Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy
Weight Loss: 80 lbs

What an amazing time in my life! I have struggled with weight issues for about 30 years when I finally made the decision to have the gastric sleeve surgery. My sister had the procedure about 8 months prior to mine and watching her convinced me to take control of my life and my health once and for all. I am now at one year post-surgery and I feel like a new person. I look and feel much younger, I have energy that I have not felt since my teens, my health has improved dramatically and I never realized how much I let the relationships in my life suffer simply because I was so depressed and felt sick much of the time. No more feet/back aches, headaches, snoring, high blood pressure, acid reflux, constant fatigue and no more making excuses to avoid social situations because I was uncomfortable about my weight. I have a new job and a confidence that I forgot I had. People literally do not recognize me and I know it is not just about the weight loss. I literally shed a person who was not me and now people are seeing the real me, someone who is in control, happy, self-confident, fit and energetic. In a year’s time, the quality of my life has increased tenfold and I am so thankful I am going to be around for many more years to enjoy the people and experiences that I now look forward to.

Brian Before and After Weight Loss SurgeryBrian, Father of 3

Weight Loss: 130 lbs

Despite being active, I have always struggled with my weight. I topped out in the below picture at about 320lbs. You are only as big as you feel and for most of my life I always felt little despite my size. In reality, I would often have to compromise the things I enjoy because of my size. I remember fishing with friends and having to ride in the front of the boat to keep the bow down. I remember not fitting into the rides at Six Flags etc. Now that the weight is off, I truly realize how much more energy I have. I can play football with my kids, walk my dog and still have energy left. Dr. Davidson has been a true blessing to my life. To date he has performed an umbilical hernia, Roux-en-Y Gastric bypass and a gallbladder removal on me. His scars are almost non-existent and to have a surgeon that is willing to pray over you in pre-op says it all. His staff is the best and I would recommend his Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass procedure to anyone who is committed to creating a better lifestyle for themselves and their family.

BJ Before and After Weight Loss SurgeryBJ, 38, mother of 2

Weight loss: 145 lbs.

As long as I can remember, I have been overweight. I missed out on so much because I was too self-conscious and embarrassed to try new things. It seemed as though food and dieting was the center of my world. Just like most people that are overweight, I have tried every diet out there with no success in keeping the weight off. I felt it was impossible to have energy and be ready to enjoy life.

After losing 145lb, I now want to do everything. On our last family vacation, I tried all the things I have wanted to do for so long. I parasailed, snorkeled, sailed, and swam with my children. In the evening we would out and I did not have to worry about what I was going to wear or how I looked. Now, I love to shop for clothes and look forward to simple things that I used to dread like going to the park and pool with my kids, or even just socializing. Now I start each day with a new feeling of self assurance. I finally love life and all it has to offer.

Individual outcomes may vary; results are dependent upon a number of medical and personal factors. On average, at 12 months with gastric bypass, weight loss is 70% of excess body weight.
